The University of Missouri System Center for Biomedical Informatics plays a leadership role in the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute’s PCORnet Clinical Research Network, the Greater Plains Collaborative which in turn provides rich support for observational data science and prospective clinical research.  We also have capabilities to understand how interoperable health data can be used to evaluate and improve health though the Tiger Institute with Oracle Cerner.  I will provide an overview of research topics currently underway or in development including
-       cloud-based environments,
-       data quality assessment,
-       information gain when integrating electronic health records with insurance claims,
-       standardizing clinical notes to enable multi-institutional natural language processing,
-       linking patients to support veteran’s health research,
-       linking to other data resources such as social determinants of health,
-       research regarding the utility of FHIR and new exchange frameworks to support clinical research and our state Medicaid program
